Introduction - Lady Haig

For the 2004 season, the team moved to the venue of The Lady Haig - Royal British Legion. Again there was changes in personel, with Jim Townsend leaving. Ben Kiely and Peter Sheil returned from the Irish Club and John "Whizz" Kennedy also joined the team.

The side endured a mixed seaseon, defeating all the top sides but managed to be lose points against lesser sides such as Thatched Cottage and New Berkshire Nomads. The final league position was 5th. As holders of the Champions of Champions Cup, the Irish Club exacted revenge, defeating the Lady Haig in the Semi-Finals of the competition.

With a new table for the 2005 season, The Lady became a formidable force at home. Eddie worked his magic every Thursday afternoon to make the cloth was in immaculate condition. I'm sure it would give the Crucible cloth a run for its money!! Captaincy changed hands, with Ben Kiely taking over from the stressed Stuart Townsend. New recruit Danny Rajput signed from the Irish Club. Another 3rd place finish in the league, with dropped points against lesser sides again proving to be very costly. In the Champions of Champions it was a different story. The Lady won their summer section and breezed into the final against Windsor. A good looking side that boasted Brad Robinson, Steve Payne, Robert Uzzell and James Harness. They proved no match however for the Lady - who were missing Steve Townsend. A 7-3 victory gave us the trophy for the 2nd time in 3 years.

New recruits followed for the 2006 season. Michael Tizzard, Craig Wilson and Lee Greenwood signed up from the Rising Sun. Departures were Steve Townsend and Peter Sheil. We had now built a side very capable of challenging for the league title - and we had strength in depth, something we never really had before. A good league campaign saw us leading the division, until the latter part of the season where a flurry of draws saw us drop vital points in the run in and finish eventuall runners up to the Irish Club. The Champions of Champions Cup was again a tournament we excelled in, storming into the final against the Irish Club. Usually a long drawn match, we hammered them into submission winning 7-1 against a very talented side within an hour. We had retained our cup.

The team lost John Kennedy for the 2007 season. We also started to suffer with ensuring we had enough players turning up for games. Nether the less we again finished runners up in the league. The story was the same - in a very good position but at the vital point of the season we started to drop points. Again the Irish Club would pip us to the title! We had a chance however to win the Champions of Champions trophy for an unprecedented 3rd time on the trot. After coming through a tough section as winners we moved through the knock out stages into the final. We were up against the Fox & Pheasant - a side who we had the beating of over the past few seasons. However the fairy tale was cut short as we lost 7-5 in the final.

The 2008 season saw us lose further players. Craig Wilson and Stuart Townsend left the squad feeling "Thread-bare". After struggling with numbers a late surge in the season saw us finish a creditable 3rd in the league.
